How to go to Samal Island, Davao

Cebu Pacific and Philippine Airlines has regular flights going to Davao. Fares ranges from P1500 to P3000 (One-way, non-promo flights).

From Davao, there are buses that goes to Samal Island through RORO(ferry). Pickup point is at Agdao, Davao.

From the port pier at Samal Island, we hired two habal habal drivers to take us on a tour. Cost of each driver is around P300.

Samal’s Bat Cave also-known-as Monfort Bat cave, is home to almost 2000 fruit bats. It is said to be the largest colony of fruit bats in the world.

The bat cave has been commercialized a bit for tourist’s convenience as well as to protect the bats. There are four holes in the cave plus a few other mini-holes where visitors can take a peek of the bats.

      This is the place that I really wanted to visit. I’ve gone to Samal Island, particularly in Barangay San Isidro but I missed the Bat Cave. Perhaps next time. Thank you for sharing this. :-)
