(This is part 2, of Davao White Water rafting post. Link to part 1: Davao White water rafting)

The Practice

At the beginning of the actual rafting, we were tested on how well we listened to both Jimmy and Dennis’ lecture. The first demo was defensive swimming. After that was how to pick up a team mate from the waters, using just your paddles.

Next was how to bring your team mate back  up, on the raft, without making your raft capsize. :D

The Activity

During our rafting activity, we passed about 13 rapids in the river, ranging from the weakest to strongest. Rapids are classified into different levels, and Davao river is rated 3+ (two class 4 rapids).

Application

Dennis, our guide would direct / shout to us what to do when in the waters. The guide would teach you basic rafting lingo and commands that you’ll be using the rest of the activity.

In calm waters, Dennis offered us to free float and let the river drift us away. He picked us up one by one later…

About halfway at the end of the activity is the lunch break, included in the fee we paid. This is also where the c.r. break is, or you can do it on the water. :P

After that it’s back to rafting, where there would be occasional  stops, like this one, where we stopped at Davao river’s vanishing falls…

After all the hard work and fun, it must all come to an end, this is the last rapid we had to battle with,  just beside this beautiful boulder surrounding Davao river. After which, we went back to Davao’s wwr office.
