On our Day 1 trip, we hired a van for rent to tour us at Bohol. We also got our driver, Kuya Lito to help us in finding a hotel in Panglao. We didn’t reserve for one prior to going there and we have forgotten that the holiday for Ninoy Aquino day was on Sept 22 – our Day 2 tour. Almost all resorts were fully booked from Day 2 onwards.
How to go there
We went looking for a hotel the whole night, first White and green resort, then Dimaluan 1, Dimaluan 2, etc etc. Kuya Lito even made a few phone calls to other resorts, but most of it were fully booked, or the only room left in them are ‘fan’ rooms. There was the last choice: Bohol Beach Club, which is pricey for our budget.
After almost an hour of finding a hotel, I still had some high hopes that we could get one in Panglao. We can’t afford to stay at Tagbilaran, because we are planning to go dolphin-watching the next day. Dolphin-watching is near Panglao.
We stopped by at a hotel far from the beach and in front of this bar. We were looking for something near the beach, but due to our circumstance, our plan B, was to take the available room and then transfer to a different hotel the next day. We still didn’t have our luck at that hotel, until…Kuya Allan (a boatman we contracted through Kuya Lito’s help) passed us by. He said his kumpare, another Kuya Allan, is a care-taker of one of the resorts there – Bohol Sea Breeze. Luckily, he still have some rooms left.
Where to stay in Bohol
We went to Bohol Sea Breeze, which is located at the back of Bohol Diver’s club. Jeff and I checked the rooms first, before deciding to stay there.
The room Kuya Allan reserved for us is good for one family. It is a suite room, but it’s not fancy at all. The room accommodates group of four and above. This is the cheapest hotel there by far, base from our search all night. At a rate of 1300 a night (2 people), Jeff and I were willing to take the room that was available. The rate could’ve been lowered had it not we were referred by Kuya Lito. They had to give him a tip for bringing us there.
Kuya Allan said that he will transfer us to another room the next day, because he’d already reserve the room we’re taking to a family of 7. We eventually stayed there on the rest of our three-day stay, because the other room was too big for us anyways.
Pros
Here are the amenities of the room we got at Sea Breeze Cottages.
- 3 single bed. One is situated at the sala area, and the other 2 at the bedroom area.
- Cable TV
- 1 bathroom
- Free coffee in the morning
- Air-conditioned
There’s also a hanging area just outside our room, and one near the entrance area. There’s direct sunlight to the hanger area at the entrance.
Cons
We didn’t have problems on our room except the part when you have to go to the beach. We pass by at this narrow path from this other resort just to get to the beach. Worst of all, there’s a dog blocking the pathway at night.
There’s also a tennis court near our room, and the constant banging of the balls annoyed us during our afternoon nap.
