Loboc Church

Our next destination after the tarsiers was the man-made forest of Bilar. On our way there, we passed by Loboc church which is just beside the area where the ‘Loboc river cruise’ boats are.

How to go there

My boyfriend and I hired a rent-a-van service to tour us around Bohol.

What to See

We arrived in Bohol at 2:30 pm, so we weren’t able to catch the last trip of the river cruise which is at 1:30 pm. We simply took pictures since we wont be experiencing it that day.

Loboc church, according to Kuya Lito is the second oldest church in Bohol. We didn’t enter the church as we were out of time, so we went to take pictures of the church’s watch tower which is just across the street. Kuya Lito joked that the tower is the local version of the leaning tower of Pisa because the tower’s age has left it slightly leaning toward the ground.

We took pictures of the tower from this unfinished bridge across the church. The bridge was supposedly for crossing Loboc river, but it was positioned to the spot where the church is standing. The locals protested the building of the bridge so it was stopped.

The bridge was built during the Marcos regime, and according to rumors, the Yamashita treasure is under Loboc church, so they constructed the bridge to pass through it to forcibly destroy the church.

The unfinished Loboc bridge

Today, the bridge has been turned to a park, enjoyed by the little kids going to school near Loboc church. We happened to catch a few kids and played with them for a bit.

I have been thinking of joining Cebu Pacific’s ‘Wandering Juan’ contest, so I thought I’d play with the kids and have them take pictures with me and Jeff. I’m good with kids so I was able to play and take pictures with them easily.

I wanted an entry of my own, so I asked Jeff to pose with them. Unfortunately, none of the kids wants to get near him,  so I pleaded them to pose with him and wholla, here’s our stupid attempt at the contest.

Unfortunately, after all that effort I re-read the mechanics for the competition, and the rule says I have to know the names of the kids, which I don’t. So here they are on kathangisip.com instead. It’s all good as we were able to enjoy the company of the cute little kiddies of Bohol. :)
