How to go there
From Panglao Island, we rented a boat to tour us around Bohol’s nearby Island. Balicasag Island, was one of our deals with him.
What to See
After Dolphin watching, our boat docked at Balicasag Island where the snorkel site can be found. In there, we were transferred to another mini-boat. The mini-boat is mandatory when going to the snorkel site. It can only accommodate three people. It was just me, Jeff and our guide – Kuya Romeo on the tip of the boat.
There were sea urchins and sharp corals underneath so we rented aqua shoes from Kuya Romeo, per his recommendation.
Jeff and I readied our gear, and jumped in the water. We had brought our own underwater camera, and man was it so much fun. Again, it was so hard taking pics of the fishes so we ended up having more vids than pics.
We were able to see tons of fish underneath, from the smallest one, to the biggest one, to the most colorful, to the plainest one. After almost an hour snorkeling, other tourists had started to join us, still the fishes were abundant and wasn’t bothered with the many people in the sea.
While on the snorkel site, Kuya Romeo would guide us, and point us unique fishes that he sees. He assisted us on our gear, and finding spots we can stand on while in the waters. He also gave us some bread to feed the fishes, and offered to take pictures of us while under water.
Balicasag, other than snorkel site, is also a diver’s spot, just a few swim from the shore is this sheer drop going further underneath of the seas of Balicasag.
