Xty finalized our trip, checking the maps and taking notes while we were on board our MNL-PVG flight.

The real adventure starts when we landed on Pudong International Airport in Shanghai at 1130 PM. Since our arrival was late, we are unable to take the metro, the Maglev train or the airport buses going to the city proper. It’s great that Xty can speak Chinese, she was able to ask where the buses were, and so, in the nick of time, we’re able to board the last bus, also called the midnight bus.

We’re able to buy some RMB in the Philippines, so we have some bucks to pay the bus. The ride took about 1hour. While in the bus, we kept looking at the map we took in the airport, deciding if there’s a need to ride a cab or if we can just walk to our hotel. It seems that our hotel is just near the area so we decided to walk. Xty’s in charge of all communications, so we have little problem finding the correct street. In their website, our hotel is just a 10-minute walk from the subway, but it took us almost 30 minutes to get there. We’ve learned afterwards that it is indeed a 10-minute walk since all Shanghai and Beijing-ers walk so fast!

We’ve arrived at our hotel at around 1:30AM. We were rewarded with a spacious and clean room.
