My boyfriend and I planned our itinerary for the third day, to include Macau tower and Guia Fortress, before heading off to Hongkong.

The initial plan was to go to Macau Tower at 7am, then go to Guia Fortress an hour after. Guia Fortress is conveniently located at the back of our hotel, so our morning day tour can never go out of our planned sched.

Unfortunately, we arrived in Macau Tower two hours earlier. The tower is open at 9am, and we arrived there at 7. This completely changed our morning schedule in Macau…

(This post is a partial description of our tour in Macau. For the complete Macau itinerary, check out our Sample Itinerary category.)

How to go there

We came back in our Hotel at about 11:30 am, just a few minutes before we should checkout.

Carrying our heavy backpacks, we head off to Guia Hill, where Guia Fortress is located. Though it’s walking distance from our hotel, Jeff and I were soon exhausted because of the steep hill we have to pass going there. Word of caution: Leave your bags elsewhere. hehe.

Guia Fortress

Guia Hill is a park in Macau where the famous Guia Fortress is located. The light house in Guia Fortress is the main attraction of the park. It was used to light the south china sea, a while back when the Portuguese used to occupy the place.

A chapel is also located beside the light house, which is now turned into a museum, showcasing the original walls of the church, plus a few other artifacts that was contained in the chapel.

Using the map we got from a tour spot in Macau, we found out that there is a cable car located in Guia Hill, which conveniently ends up at a bus station, that has a route going to the Macau Ferry port.

From Guia Fortress, the cable car is located at the other end of Guia Hill. Jeff and I took the one-way ride going down the hill.

After which, we saw this ‘sari-sari’ type of store, where we saw a bunch of kids buying snacks. What we bought there was sesame ice cream, which tasted really good. I don’t know why we don’t have that here.

We then went to the bus station to catch a ride going to the Macau Ferry port. Check out your map for bus numbers that has a route there. Maps are easily accessible in Macau, you can get them anywhere.

Fares and Fees of the tour

Cable car ride : 2 mop

Tips and Traps

-No picture taking allowed in cable car ride.

-There are markers and land maps located in Guia Hill.

-Find ‘hidden mickeys’ in Guia Fortress (to those who knows what I mean..hehe)

How to go there

This post is part of our trip in Macau. For the complete itinerary, check out this link here: Macau itinerary

Just 10 min walk from Moorish Baracks, you’ll be able to reach Lilau square. There are street signs on each tourist spot, pointing to the other tourist spot in the area, you’ll never get lost. You wont even get to use your map. hehe

Street on Lilau Square

Follow the narrow street from Moorish Barracks and you’ll be able to reach Lilau Square, though there were areas that do not have walkways, and vehicles in Macau are super fast and gets in at the tiniest street they can possibly fit in. So be careful.

What to See

Lilau Square is this street with cute Portuguese style houses in it. There are pink, yellow, and green houses… super cute.

There was this one house that really transcends that Portuguese style house. I think it’s famous in the area, I was taking pictures in its windows and doors not realizing there was this surveillance camera on top. And also, the house has beautiful flowers in it, and I also didn’t took notice that some of it were actually plastic flowers and plants. So stupid. haha.

One of the houses in Lilau Square

This post is part of our trip in Macau. For the complete itinerary, check out this link here: Macau itinerary

Our next destination was Moorish Barracks and Lilau Square. From the map, it looked like we can walk from A-ma to Moorish Barracks, which turned out true. From there, you’ll just have to walk three to four streets. Jeff is really good with navigating, we were entering little streets with no pathways. Took us just about 10 minutes to reach Moorish Baracks. Plus the walking part is a tour itself. I was able to see a real life paper boy in bike! Except he’s not a boy, but its close.

My first ever encounter with a paper boy, ang aga nila kasi! haha

What to see – Tourist Spots in Macau

And what do we see when we get there. Well, Moorish Barracks is just this building that is created in Moorish style to accommodate the Indian policemen that were in Macao. We didn’t get in, and just took pictures of it outside.
